3 steps to peace during confusing times

Have you felt like this month has been an interesting start to the New Year? It makes sense because we have had so many planets in retrograde! Retrograde is a beautiful time of inward reflection, but with that can also come confusion and friction. I would love to walk you through 3 steps to take towards peace and graciousness during emotional confusing times.

  1. Commit to Your Center 🙏

I find that a daily commitment to coming back to “center” is a helpful way to move through these confusing times. Finding center is incredibly important. It’s like working on a pottery wheel — if you don’t take the time to make sure the wet clay is centered on the wheel, when you start to create the vase it will become super wonky and difficult to correct. When I teach yoga and even when I start the day with my third grade students, I place incredible attention to the first moments of class or the day. In my personal life, my morning practice - journaling and meditation is the way I commit to finding my center. Some days, I don’t feel perfectly calm or at ease after my morning practice, and that is OK. The point is not the feeling, it’s the intention.

  1. Tune into Reverence 🌳

Connecting to our center allows us to have reverence, or deep respect, for what is happening in our lives. This means that when we take those moments to return home to ourself, we can honor and create a nonjudgmental space for ourselves. It is extremely empowering to create a safe space within ourselves where we can have reverence - and honoring - for all we feel without judgement. Find the beauty in the pain you are feeling, find what it may be teaching you, and find what it may have to offer you.

  1. Take Emotional Responsibility  🌸

Emotional responsibility is life changing. When you start the practice of having true reverence for all you feel, you witness negative emotions begin soften. This doesn’t mean triggers won’t still happen or we won’t go through hardship or challenging times. This simply means that when these times happen, we can feel empowered by finding our center and allowing everything to come through. In this way, we realize that we can choose to see a situation different. We take responsibility for how we feel, and we can choose to walk forward with grace and love for self.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You deserve the ability to do things and be with people that make you feel calm and centered! That is what I am prioritizing. As we look forward to February, decide what small steps you can take to find your center. Take the yoga class. Make the recipe. Go for the clearing walk. Be brave and take action. And don’t forget to have fun and see the humor along the way. Smiles help!
I feel a burst of happinessin my heart and I’m so thankful for all of you. Let us commit to a month of showing our love and gratitude to ourselves and others in February. Please respond to this email if you have any reflections- I love to chat!
