Saturn retrograde, karma, & scones!
Hello, my loves!
I hope you have been having a beautiful start to the summer season. This summer feels particularly full of potential for creating structures for growth and experiencing joy in the here and now.
The two can exist at the same time. I’ve been leaning into both :)
So let’s jump right in. We are in an important astrological transit: Saturn retrograde. It’s happening now until about mid-October in the sign of Pisces. Saturn is a planet ruled by Capricorn. It’s often known as the “father” since it has a lot to do with the realities of adulthood, responsibility, work, time, and karma. Pisces on the other hand is known for its creativity, compassion, intuition, delusion, sometimes laziness, and more. Long story short, Pisces has trouble facing reality. However, with a little bit of structure and discipline, Pisces qualities can come through in a more profound way.
During a retrograde, a planet moves backward. It's time to pay attention to this planet — and “course correct” in any way needed so that we can get back on track. Therefore, it’s a time when we can be honest about the structures in our life, how we are taking responsibility for things like our finances, work, relationships, and dreams, and then move forward in a more aligned fashion. Below are some questions that I am personally reflecting on during this 4-month transit:
Where can you add structure and discipline to your creative pursuits and dreams?
How are you taking time to slow down, reflect and get clear on your goals and intentions?
What do you want — what do you REALLY authentically want — what does success look and feel like to you?

How To Do The Work by Dr. Nicole LePera
The Origins of You by Vienna Pharon (currently reading)
You Are More Than You Think You Are by Kimberly Snyder
For example, my Saturn is in Pisces in the first house. Since the first house rules the “self” this is a fruitful time for me to really dig deeper into my past stories that have created myself. In addition, I will be working on self-trust, self-confidence, and more fierce self-compassion as well as the ability to express myself without shame involved. It's time for me to hold the hand of the people pleaser that is a part of me and tell her she can have a seat, while a more authentic version of me can come through. In addition, it’s a time to focus on my physical body. Taking care of my body, reevaluating my workouts and how I treat my body, while also my external style - making sure the way I present myself externally even down to the clothes I wear and products I use — making sure they are authentic to me.

Saturn also rules Karma. No, Karma is not my boyfriend (still love you Tay Tay) however Karma is something I’ve been very intentional and curious about lately. Karma is neither good nor bad, it’s said to really be a system of cause and effect. If you want to get even more deep about Karma, sometimes karmic patterns stay with us from past lifetimes. All karmic situations are a call to see ourselves and others more clearly for what we all really are: Love.
A clear way to see where karma exists in your life is to notice patterns that repeat themselves. Are you finding yourself in similar relationship patterns? Do you find yourself facing the same type of conflict, even if they are with different people? Is there a repeated feeling you keep experiencing?
I’m integrating lessons of Karma into my life. The challenges I have faced have shed light on patterns I have carried. I’m learning to love myself more deeply and fully so that I can really love others. With that said, I am able to move forward with a greater level of discernment of what and who is for me. There’s always more to uncover and heal.
